Helpful Tips On How To Use

Our cutters work best with a firm fondant. We recommend a 50/50 mix of fondant and sugar paste (also known as modelling paste) or adding a little tylose or cmc to your fondant to make it more firm. Dust your surface with icing sugar/cornflour. Dip the cutters in the cornflour/icing sugar before cutting. Press the cutters into the rolled fondant (approx 2-3mm thickness for the main part of the cutter) firmly and gently shimmy to and fro until you have cut clean through the fondant. Push the fondant out gently to release it from the cutter. Roll the fondant thinner for the remaining parts. If you’ve purchased cutters with smaller parts these can be more tricky to work with but not impossible. Coat the smaller parts with vegetable shortening(trex), this will help with removing the fondant. Use a needle tool/toothpick/modelling tools to gently push the fondant out from the edges or a can of compressed air to gently blow them out works wonders! All our cutters show pictures online with the completed design. Use these as a reference point when assembling. Use a brush dipped in water or edible glue (sparingly) when assembling the pieces.Work in layers starting with the main cut out, then the rest of the pieces if using a multi piece set.

How Should I Look After My Fondant Cutters?

Our fondant cutters are hand wash only in luke warm soapy water using a sponge or cloth. Avoid using abrasive materials to clean them or you may damage them. Air drying is best as some of the more detailed sets contain smaller delicate parts and can break if mishandled. They are NOT dishwasher safe. Prolonged exposure to direct heat/sunlight may cause cutters to warp. Once the cutters are dry place in an airtight bag and lay flat.

How Do You Make Your Cutters?

After creating a high resolution 3d model to engineering spec in our 3D CAD software, we print them on high resolution 3d printers. Our spec uses increments of 0.3mm or 1/100th of an inch.

What Are Your Cutters Made Out Of?

We use only the highest quality biodegradable PLA. PLA plastic is derived from plant starch like corn or sugar cane.

Why Choose Us?

Our business was born after years of frustration not being able to source fondant cutters for our ongoing cake topper business TheCakeFairyCrafts within the UK. So we set about learning how to design and create our own, incorporating into the design process all the problems we had encountered with other 3d multi piece cutters or lack there of. The results are our cutters are thicker and stronger than the competition for the same price or less! Most other 3d fondant cutters use a thin two wall process which makes them very flimsy and prone to breakage. We use a proprietary four wall process that makes them twice as thick. This added material actually makes them three times stronger. We also do a tiered, wedge like, cutting lip at the top of each cutter for a perfect clean cut every time! Our cutters are designed for use with fondant, sugar paste or modelling paste only. They should never be used with cookie dough. Cutter colours can vary depending on the plastic we have available at the time of order.
